Illustration for A Seat by the Window

A story from FLyLOFi

A seat by the window

There is always an empty chair at the window-side table.

The window-side table always had two chairs. One day, as light rain fell, FUU pulled one chair out and placed a little dry cloth on it.

Faye looked over from the counter. “Waiting for someone?” FUU shook their head, but still lined up another cup neatly on its saucer.

Before long, someone opened the door with raindrops on their sleeve. Without asking anything, FUU pointed to the empty chair. Faye set a warm cup of tea beside it.

Rain could still be heard outside. Inside were two chairs, two cups, and time that did not need to hurry.

There’s room for a little pause.

Each story fits into a short break. There is no required reading order, and no audio starts by itself.
